Ninfa Espinoza

Ninfa Espinoza (b. 1992) is a Honduran visual artist raised in San Pedro Sula. Her formal artistic journey began at the Instituto Vocacional de Arte (IVA), where she studied drawing and painting from 2009 to 2011. During this foundational period, she participated in collective exhibitions and engaged in community-driven public art, creating murals for local schools, streets, and bridges. Building upon this foundation, she has spent over a decade developing her practice through rigorous self-directed study, deeply influenced by the light and expressive brushwork of the Impressionists.

Espinoza's work offers a compelling artistic perspective on contemporary Honduran reality, capturing the nuances of daily life while confronting pressing social issues. Her background in spatial design — holding a degree in Interior Design from CEUTEC — subtly informs her understanding of environment and composition.

Recognized as a rising voice in the region, Espinoza received an Honorable Mention for "New Artist" at the XXXIII National Art Salon at the Centro Cultural Sampedrano in 2023. Her work has been showcased in key cultural spaces across Central America, including the Centro Cultural de España in Costa Rica (2025) and subsequent exhibitions in Tegucigalpa (2026). She actively contributes to her local arts community as a member of the Colectivo de Pintores Sampedranos (CPS) and the Asociación de Mujeres Artistas Hondureñas (AMAH).
